Here are some fund–raising ideas that interested groups can use:
- Newbury Park First Christian Church has been donating all types of books and they are being sold at Priscillas Coffee & Tea in Burbank, CA. Books sell for $1 each (sometimes on sale for 75 cents). All proceeds to Ninos de Baja. Find a venue to sell the donated books and get the word out within your congregations for donations. Good outreach too. A lot of Christian books have been sold into a secular community. For more information, contact U.S. Directors.
- Newbury Park First Christian Church (Jeff Miller) started a program in 10/09 to recycle ink jet and laser jet cartridges and cell phones. All proceeds to Ninos.
- We received commitments in October “09 from a Boy Scout Troop, Girl Scout Troop and Cub Scout Pack to do 2010 service projects.
- Five Churches are participating in the 2009 Christmas shoebox program for Ninos de Baja and the town of El Porvenir. We plan to give out a Christmas shoebox (filled with good things)and a new Spanish Bible for all of the children. (Note: in 2008 close to 400 were distributed.)
- Ask your service clubs (Rotary, Chambers, Elk, et al) if they’ll “adopt” Ninos de Baja as their service charity.
(If you know of other ideas, please share them)
