We are located in Ejido El Porvenir, about a two-hour drive south of San Diego, California, U.S.A. El Porvenir is a small village in the rural farming area in the Guadalupe Valley of the state of Baja California, Mexico. We are approximately 20 miles northeast of Ensenada, a large city of about 300,000 population.

We recommend that you enter through the small border crossing in the town of Tecate, U.S.A./Tecate, Mexico. After crossing the border, go south three blocks to the park and turn left. Turn right at the east end of the park following the signs for Ensenada. Stay on this road, Highway 3, until you come to the community of Guadalupe/Zarco, just past kilometer marker 76. Leave Highway 3 in Guadalupe and go straight ahead through the community. Follow the newly paved road about five miles to El Porvenir. Turn right/north at the first street on the right, Las Palmas.  Go to the end of this street, 4 blocks, and turn right/east.  The Daycare and Niños de Baja Office  is the last building on the left/north side of the street.     The Drain’s home is directly across the street.

We can also be reached by entering through the San Ysidro/Tijuana border crossing and taking Coast Highway 1-D south. Just past the third toll booth take Highway 3 which goes east toward Tecate. Continue for approximately 10 miles until you see the small sign for El Porvenir, just past kilometer marker 89. Turn left onto the very bumpy dirt road and in approximately four miles you will come to El Porvenir.

Mexican Insurance:

We recommend buying Mexican auto insurance before you cross the border. We recently partnered with Baja Bound to make this an easy step in getting prepared for your trip. With their website, Bajabound.com you can buy and print out a Mexican insurance policy in minutes from your computer. As part of the partnership, a portion of every policy bought will be donated back to Niños de Baja! For more information, visit Bajabound.com. and click on the Community link under the section labeled Baja Bound.

If you are driving a vehicle that is not your own, (other than a rental car) it is very important to have an official letter, on letterhead if possible, authorizing that you have permission to drive it.  If you are stopped by Police, you must be able to show proof that you have legal access to the vehicle.
